There is a real treasure in the sea waiting to be exploited more than it is
we do today.

Fishing waste and everything that comes from the agri-food market are a major part of the disposal and pollution that there we face.

For protein waste alone, in 2017, substances worth 174.7 billion dollars were wasted (Marine drugs Adelaide study).

Tecno Finish has developed a new extraction method, exploiting bacteria producing lactic acid and protease, which contributes to the dissolution of the calcium carbonate of crustaceans.

From this extraction process chitin is obtained, a bioplastic already
present in nature which, once treated with extrusion and coating processes,
gives rise to a totally biodegradable film, usable for the sector wallcovering.

THE SECRET OF CHITIN

Shrimp and crab shells contain chitinin percentages ranging from 13% to 42%. Analyst forecasts estimate that the chitin market will grow from $42.3 billion in 2020 to $69.3 billion in 2028.
